Yosemite Trails Leading To Eagle Peak

Yosemite trails leading to Eagles Peak is a great, tough hike. It is the tallest point of the recognizable rock formation, three brothers. Three brothers are the three rocky peaks that are located along the north wall of Yosemite Valley. It was named for the three sons of Chief Tenaya that were captured near their base by the Mariposa Battalion Army.

This hike will give you a fabulous view of Yosemite Valley, the eastern part of Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, North Dome, Clouds Rest, Glacier Point, Nevada Falls and on a clear day....the California coastline.

This hike is approximately 13 miles round trip. The trail is rocky and has a lot of switchbacks. The hike will take you up to an elevation of 7,779 feet.

To get to Eagles Peak, first you must climb Yosemite Falls. (The trail head starts near Yosemite Lodge) When you get to the top of Yosemite falls, you will see a wooden bridge crossing over Yosemite Creek. Nearby there you will see a sign that will point you in the direction of Eagles Peak and El Capitan. Walk another three miles and you will be at Eagles Peak.

Once your at Yosemite Creek, at the two mile marker heading to Eagles Peak, you will come to a fork in the trail. If you go to the right, you will go to the top of El Capitan. Stay to your left, this will take you to Eagles Peak. The last half of a mile is a 400 foot incline that will take you to the top of Eagles Peak.

For most of us, this is a lot of hiking in one day. It is a reasonable hike one day hike to the top of Yosemite Falls. Pitch your tent and stay the night at the top of Yosemite Falls. Continue on to Eagles Peak the following day. This is an excellent two day hiking trip.
