Yosemite Map Overview Of Where To Stay

The above Yosemite map shows you how lodging is laid out in Yosemite valley. To Learn more about each place just click on its link. You may make your reservations to stay at one of these places as well. Each of these places is in Yosemite Valley, except The Wawona and Yosemite West. The free shuttle comes to each place, except The Wawona and Yosemite West. (The Wawona and Yosemite West are in Yosemite National Park just above the valley floor. Both are less than a 30 minute drive to the valley.)

The Ahwahnee Hotel

Yosemite lodging at the Ahwahnee Hotel is a resort. It opened in 1927. A resort hotel that has hosted heads of state, movie stars and political figures. This is a first class resort. It is grand and elegant. Nestled at the base of a granite mountain, it is surrounded by oak trees, ponderosa pine trees and incense cedar trees. 123 rooms are available. Reservations need to be made a year in advance. You can see the location on the above Yosemite map.

Camping

Yosemite camping in Yosemite National Park or its surrounding areas requires you to make your reservations early! Reservations are required year round. May through September are the busiest months and therefore the hardest months to book. There are several choices for you to choose where to pitch your tent, park your RV or fith wheel.

Upper Pines, Lower Pines and North Pines are all campsites that are in Yosemite Valley. You will see these locations to the right on the above Yosemite Map. On the link below I explain all the different camping places in and around Yosemite.

Housekeeping Tents

Housekeeping is the name of a lodging place to say in Yosemite. This is an interesting place to stay! This lodging consists of permanent tents. The tents have built in bunk beds. Each tent has three permanent canvas sides with the forth side being a canvas shower curtain to close off the tent. Each campsite has a covered patio area, a cooking and dining area, a bear locker to keep your food in, a table and a fire ring. There are bunkbeds in each tent, but you must bring your own linens or sleeping bags. There is two bunkbeds on one wall and one bunk on the other wall. Located in the middle on the above Yosemite map.

The Lodge

Yosemite Lodge At The Falls (Lodge Room-Includes Breakfast-)

The Lodge is where my family and I would stay for years. Because of floods, cabins get removed and there are less places to stay now. They have raised their prices a lot over the years, but it is a quiter place with lesser crowds.

The Wawona Hotel

Wawona Hotel Yosemite is a historic place to stay. Wawona means Big Meadow. This hotel is open on weekends from December to March. From late March through November hotel is open seven days a week. Nearby are cottages that are available to stay in. Tucked inside the hotel is a restaurant. Wawona Hotel Yosemite has a swimming pool available for guests. Within walking distance is Pioneer Village.

The Wawona Hotel is in Yosemite National Park but it is not located in the valley. It is on the Highway 41 South Entrance, near the Big Trees in Mariposa Grove. About 20 minutes to the tunnel view and a 30 minute drive to Yosemite Valley. It is not on the above Yosemite Map (but it is on the left side of the map by the Yosemite Park exit.)

Yosemite West

Yosemite West is one of Yosemite's best kept secrets! They have clean, comfortable and affordable accommodations and they are inside Yosemite National Park. They offer a variety of accommodations. They have studio rooms, apartments, condominiums, townhomes, cabins, cottages, log homes and mountain homes.

Every place has a complete kitchen (fully equipped), fireplace, private bathroom(s), barbecue area, color satellite TV with VHS/DVD combo player, and one or more decks. Beds are freshly made prior to arrival, and bath linens are provided. Just bring your food!

Less than a 30 minute drive to Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, the big trees and Badger Pass for skiing! And they don't have the crowds! Located on the Highway 41 entrance to the park. It is not on the above Yosemite map (but Yosemite West is located on the left side of the map by the park exit.)

(They do not book reservations online...tell them you found them on the SeeYosemite.com website!) Friendly staff will assist you in choosing just the right unit -- and you will be treated like a person, not a number!
