Olympic National Park is located on the Olympic Peninsula in the northwestern part of the state of Washington. This US National Park is very diverse. You have 73 miles of coastline which will give you great beaches, fishing and boating activities. Then you have a crest of mountains in the middle of the park that are covered with glaciers. Because it rains here so much, you also have a thick rainforest.
Three very different parks all in one. Once you get here there is hiking, backpacking, bike riding, camping, scenic drives, horseback riding, visit a hot spring, skiing, snowshoeing and if you have a camera, you are going to love taking pictures!
The tallest mountain here is Mount Olypus. It is 7,980 feet tall. It is covered with ten square miles of an ice glacier year around. In fact, there are about 266 ice glaciers in the Olympic Mountain Range. These mountains were originally carved by ice glaciers.
There are more than 600 miles of marked hiking trails waiting to be explored here. And do not be surprised if you see an elk. In fact, I'd be surprised if you didn't see an elk when you come! This Washington National Park has the largest herd of elk to be found. Some affectionately call this the Elk National Park!
