Hiking In Yosemite To Dewey Point

Hiking in Yosemite to Dewey Point will give you a highly scenic view at 7,385 feet. Start your hike from Glacier Point Road. This hike is 8.2 miles round trip. You can hike this in the summer or cross country to Dewey point in the winter. (It makes for a great cross country excursion!) Either way you'll most likely have the place all to yourself!

The trailhead is 7.4 miles up Glacier Point Road. It is .25 of mile before Bridalveil Creek Campground. You will cross the creek in McGurk Meadow and follow trail signs to Dewey Point from there.

When you get to Dewey Point you will see the back side of the middle Cathedral Rock. The surface of Cathedral Rock is rust stained and it's beautiful. Its coloring is different than all the rest of the grey granite rocks that surround it, so it is very easy to spot. Straight ahead you will see Cathedral Spires,El Capitan and the high sierras in the skyline stretch out for miles.

Breath taking views that are 360 degrees around you. These views are what draw so many people to Yosemite National Park. This hike will give you views of Yosemite Valley and the snow capped high sierras. Visitors who never leave Yosemite Valley really have no idea of the splendored beauty the lies above the peaks that they see from below. Hit the hiking trails, and you will really appreciate Yosemite National Park and all that it has to offer those who come.
