Electrolytes In The Body
You want to keep electrolytes in the body. When you exert the muscles in your body, you sweat and therefore lose electrolytes. If the electrolytes get too low, you will have muscle cramping, muscle fatigue and feel light headed. Avoid cramps by keeping your body well hydrated with water. If your thirsty, your already dehydrated. You need to drink before your thirsty. Electrolytes do not give you energy, they keep you mind from getting fuzzy and your muscles strong. People say to look at your pee when you go to the bathroom. If your urine is light colored or clear...your in good shape. If your urine is a dark color...you are dehydrated and you need to drink more water. If your hiking, biking, running or doing any form of exercise, you need to drink water. The harder you work your body, the more hydration you will need. Even being in a higher attitude can dehydrate your body. If you are doing a moderate activity and the weather is cool, your body will lose one cup of water every hour. If you are doing a moderate activity and the weather is hot, your body will lose up to four cups of water every hour. Here is Yosemite, the Search and Rescue team pull more weekend warriors off of trails than you would believe. Why? Hikers often under estimate the amount of water that they should be drinking. There is a great product that I love. It is called, Nuun. It is a tablet that you drop in your water bottle. It tastes great. It makes me want to drink more water and it keeps me from getting dehydrated. Nuun tablets are electrolytes in a tablet. They dissolve quickly and they are sugar free.
