Welcome to this no roads in and no roads out national park called, Dry Tortugas Florida. An island that is at the farthest end of the Florida Keys. The only way to get here is by boat, ferry or seaplane. The name means, dry turtles.

The island is a former military fort. Fort Jefferson was named after President Thomas Jefferson. This place was an active military post in the Civil War. Shooting down the enemy ships if they came within target range. The light house was a beacon in the night for our ships. You can take a self guided tour of the old quarters and storehouses that lay behind its brick walls. If you like military history and lighthouses, this place will make a nice day trip for you!
There is no hotels on the island of Dry Tortugas Florida. The only overnight logding is allowed in tents in the campground. There are some nice picnic areas here, but bring your own food and water because there are no restaurants here.
