Bass Lake CA Bass Lake Ca is a beautiful resort area just 20 minutes from Yosemite National Parks south entrance. The lake is surrounded by Ponderosa Pine trees, Oak trees and Cedar Trees. Located in the Sierra National Forest, it is owned by PG & E. Private homes, vacation resorts and rental homes surround this beautiful mountain lake. Boating, wakeboarding, water skiing, swimming and fishing are enjoyed by many that come to this area. The lake is four miles long and 140 feet deep at its deepest part. The water fluctuates throughout the year in order to produce electricity, provide irrigation water and to maintain fish life downstream. So boaters must be aware of danger signs that are posted around the lake so that they don't bottom out. Twenty-nine different kinds of fish are found in the lake, making the fishing derbies a huge draw for those who like to fish. The spring time fishing derby has a prize of more than $10,000! The forth of July brings fireworks over the lake and boat parades/shows are often on the local calendar. A thirty minute drive into Yosemite National Park will land you up at Badger Pass if you like to snow ski in the winter. Snowmobiling and cross country skiing are available too. Other outdoor activities include hiking, golfing and tennis. The beautiful city of Oakhurst is only eight miles down the road. And the south shore of the lake is the perfect place to camp in Rv's and tents.
