Badger Pass Ski Area

Badger Pass ski area is located in Yosemite National Park. It is a one hour drive from the valley floor. This ski area really caters to the young, beginner and intermediate skiers. This year it is scheduled to open December 14th, 2012. But it all depends on the snowfall. There are no snow making machines here. This is the oldest ski resort in California. The downhill skiing is excellent here! (At the bottom of this page is the live webcam to see current conditions)

California vacation ideas must include this place if you are wanting to learn to ski for the first time. With low crowds in the winter this one of the great California vacation spots.

Two of our three children have learned to ski and snowboard her at Badger Pass. They guarantee that they can teach any one of any age how to ski.

This is a very family oriented ski resort. Rarely do you have lines to wait in. The staff is friendly and the scenery is fantastic! The runs average a mile long each. The top of the mountain is at 8,000 feet. The vertical drop is 800 feet.

How do you get here? Take Highway 41 Badger Pass Road. Six miles up the road is the ski resort. If you are in Yosemite valley, there is a shuttle that runs once a day to this ski resort.

Pick up places are at Curry Village, The Ahwahnee Hotel and Yosemite Lodge. The front desk at each of these places will give you time of departure and return to the ski resort.

During the winter season Badger Pass is open from 9 am to 4 pm.

There are 10 runs that are available to ski on.

There are 5 different lifts. There is 1 triple chair lift, 3 double chair lifts and 1 hand tow for the beginners and young children.

85% of the runs are designed for beginner and intermediate skiers. They have very nice long, wide runs!

Snowboarders are welcome at Badger-Pass!

There is a Sports Shop here too. Inside they sell ski apparel, hats, gloves, goggles and souvenirs.

Lockers are available. They can be rented out by the day, the week or the season.

There is a restaurant here that serves burgers, salads, pizza, beer, nachos, soup, chili, soft drinks and more.

There is a First Aid Station here and a Ski Repair Shop as well.

This is one of the best places to learn how to ski. They have a great one day school that will teach you how to downhill ski, snowboard or cross country ski.

This is considered one of the best places in the United States to cross country ski!

On the weekends, the National Park Service has guided snow shoe walks. Great fun for the entire family!
